Tony Landis was born and raised in Central Pennsylvania. He and his sister, Katie, were adopted to two loving parents Carey and Tina in the year 2000. He has been a part of the Paxtonville United Methodist Church family since September of 2015. Tony asked Jesus into his heart when he was 13 years old. He is a 2015 graduate of Midd-West High School and a 2020 graduate of Susquehanna University.
In high school, Tony could be seen on stage in all of the school’s productions, singing in several choir groups, and playing trumpet. He served as drum major for the marching band his senior year of high school, as well as served as co-president of the theater and music department throughout the course of his four years. Tony was also 4-year President of an organizen founded by Jostens, “The Renaissance Action Team”, which focused on connecting the students through activities, leading and serving through volunteer work, and growing students by bringing in youth speakers. His senior year he took on a new role as a member of the Principal’s Advisory Committee, which helped school administrators in making decisions that benefited the student body; this included a superintendent search committee that found the new superintendent.
While in college, Tony excelled in and out of the classroom; along with being a full-time student studying Business Administration, he was the student manager of one of the universities dining locations. He also served as a campus leader.
During the summer he can be found at the Middleburg Community Swimming Pool where he has been a lifeguard since 2012. While at the pool he has served as the Activities Director and Coordinator and is currently the Assistant Manager.
Here at Paxtonville United Methodist Church, Tony is heavily involved in working with and teaching our youth in the ROCK program, was a co-founder of the young adults group, “The Journey To…,” serves on the Connections Outreach and the Intentional Faith Development teams, and is a member of the Facilities Management team. Along with these duties, Tony serves as one of our church custodians. On a Sunday morning, you can hear him singing praises to our wonderful and amazing God on the Praise Team.
Tony is still figuring out what his journey looks like and is letting his personal relationship with Jesus Christ guide his decisions. Joining us at Paxtonville United Methodist Church, according to Tony is “one of the best decisions I let God make for me, because I don’t just come to church, I come home to a family of faith.”
