Intentional Faith Development

Intentional Faith Development

Paxtonville United Methodist Church’s Intentional Faith Development (IFD) Team is a group of church members and attenders who support the church’s mission to “make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.” We support this mission by promoting and equipping Bible studies, small groups, and Sunday School classes. We believe all of us need to regularly take steps toward a deeper and growing relationship with Jesus. We also support this mission by creating processes and opportunities to help as many people as possible grow and mature in the journey of following Jesus.

IFD’s Vision

The vision of the Intentional Faith Development Team is to help PUMC be a place where we:

  1. Rely on the Bible as the way for people to know and accept Jesus as Savior
  2. Encourage and empower each other to have a growing relationship with Jesus through studying the Bible (i.e. Discipleship)
  3. Encourage and empower each other to share how Jesus and the Bible are changing us (i.e. Evangelism)
  4. Pray for, encourage, and train teachers and group leaders
  5. Rely on the Holy Spirit to guide all of these points

IFD’s Goals for 2020

  • Develop a group of classes called “Foundations” that cover the core essentials of orthodox Chrisitan and Biblical belief
  • Promote and implement better communication about what groups, studies, and classes are available for the congregation and community
  • Work with the Lay Leadership Team to train new leaders and teachers
