With all the challenges of 2020 and the COVID-19 Pandemic, we still believe there is bright hope for today. That hope is most powerfully demonstrated in God’s Son Jesus Christ, whose birth we will again celebrate through Advent and Christmas.

We want to invite you to take part in an Advent Journey of Hope with us. Accompanying this message, you will find a daily list of short Bible readings connected to our preaching series for December (LINK). This is an encouragement to us all to open God’s Word a little more. We invite you to join us on Facebook as well, where the daily readings will be posted in some creative ways (like videos and verse images). Finally, you can tune in to our live-streamed Advent services at 9:00AM or view recordings of past messages. You can find links to these on our website (paxtonvilleumc.org) and Facebook page (facebook.com/PaxtonvilleUMC).

Our final bit of festive news to share is Christmas Eve. At Paxtonville UMC we will offer four different Christmas Eve Services. Two of these services will be in our sanctuary with overflow seating in the social hall; these services will be at 4:00PM and 9:00PM. Inside attenders must wear face masks and follower other posted safety guidelines. The other two services will be at 6:00PM and 7:00PM at PUMC’s outdoor chapel (follow the trail connected to back of parking lot). This outdoor service will primarily involve carol singing and reading the Christmas Story. Our decorating team is hard at work making a beautiful, unique display of lights and lanterns for the outdoor altar and outdoor worship space.

In a few days we will be posting a google form asking folks to which Christmas Eve service they might like to attend. This will help us keep an eye on our capacity numbers just in case additional arrangements or layout changes need to be made. Your help filling out this form will be greatly appreciated.

Inside services will last about 30-40 minutes, while outside services will last about 15-25 minutes. If you have any questions, feel free to call the office at 570-837-3158, write to office@paxtonvilleumc.org, or connect with us online.
